1/2   cup   shortening  
1/4   cup   white sugar  
1/2   cup   brown sugar  
1 1/8   cups   plain flour  
1/2   teaspoon   baking soda  
1/2   teaspoon   salt  
1     egg  
1/2   cup   toasted pecans  
1   cup   chocolate chips  

1. Cream shortening with sugars
2. Beat in egg and vanilla
3. Sift together dry ingredients to blend
4. Stir dry ingredients into shortening-sugar-egg mixture
5. Stir in chips and pecans
6. Bake in medium oven 9-12 minutes.
